Treating Pain

Date Posted:29 February 2016

Often we used an ice pack to soothe/ aid an injury…have you ever wondered why?

Healthline.com explains that ice numbs the injury. Ice also reduces fluid build-up in the affected area by narrowing the blood vessels and slowing down the blood flow. The use of ice packs relieves pain but unfortunately does not treat the underlying cause.

It can be confusing when deciding whether to treat pain with cold or heat. Healine.com.au promotes the use of cold (ice pack, cold gel pack) for acute pain or new swollen/ inflamed injuries. Heat (heat packs, hot water bottles) should be used for chronic pain or an injury that is more than one-day old.

shsProducts are currently selling The 'Aeroplast Instant Ice Pack' for only $2.40. This ice pack is immediately ready for use in an emergency – no pre chilling or freezing required.
