Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. 2 in 3 Australians will be dignosed with skin cancer by the age of 70 and around 2000 Australians die from skin cancer each year.

Want causes skin cancer?

Skin cancer is caused by the exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun that causes sunburn. Australia has the hightest UV levels in the world, the UV levels are that strong in Australia that they can cause sunburn in just 11 mins on a fine Janurary day.

How can you be sun smart?

In 5 easy step you can protect yourself and your family from the risks of skin cancer. Remember these 5 S's:

Slip on sun protective clothing On clothing as this is one of the best barriers between your skin and the sun, try to cover as much skin as possible.

Slop on SPF 30 or higher sunscreenOn sunscreen. Remmended SPF 30 or higher broad spectrum and water resistant.

Slap on a hatOn a hat. Broad brimmed hat are best sun protection for the face, head, ears and neck.

Seek shadeShade, as this is a user friendly form of sun protection.

Slide on sunglassesOn sunglasses, with a EPF rating of 9 or 10 and have UV protection on the label.
