What is SCA - Sudden Cardiac Arrest?
Sudden, unexpected loss of heart function, breathing and consciousness.
Cardiac arrest usually results from an electrical disturbance in the heart. It's not the same as a heart attack.
The main symptom is loss of consciousness and unresponsiveness.
This medical emergency needs immediate CPR or the use of a defibrillator. Hospital care includes drugs, an implantable device or other procedures.
How Can you tell if someone is having SCA?
The symptoms of an SCA are immediate
• Sudden collapse
• No breathing
• Loss of consciousness
And, it can occur without warning.
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)
can increase the survival rates for an SCA up to 75%
